About Fairford Cricket Club

Fairford Cricket Club is one of the oldest cricket clubs in the county having been formed in the 1800's. A century of cricket was celebrated at our present ground at Park Street 1989.

The club was set up to provide cricket for people in the town and the surrounding area, and this is still its aim. At present we have around 30 senior members, 75 juniors and 24 vice-presidents, a number that has been steadily growing in the last couple of years.

Fairford's senior teams compete in the GCA Readers County League on a Saturday which is the highest league we can play in before entering into regional cricket. The 1st XI play in division one and finished 4th in the 2004 season while the 2nd XI finished 2nd in division three and were promoted.

On a Sunday friendlies are played against mainly local clubs and we also enter the nPower Village Knockout. The club has entered the Evening league and knockout cups for 2005 and practice nights are Tuesday and Friday when we utilise the club's bowling machine, mobile net and full length artificial wicket.

There is also a thriving junior section that provides coaching and matches for younger players from 6 to 16 years of age, coaching takes place on Wednesday evening. The success of the junior section can be seen by the contribution of the younger players in recent senior campaigns.

We are always looking for new members, young or old, and all abilities will be catered for. If you are interested in playing for Fairford send an e-mail or call in on a practice night or match day.
